“Another great stay in Elm Gables.”

The house is large & comfortable, enclosed by a peaceful garden for sitting & dining in. We love the huge variety of walks in & around Walberswick itself, over to Southwold & through the marshes to Dunwich—lots of sea air, big open skies and a lighthouse on the horizon.

Gastronomic highlights have to be the local Black Dog deli, homemade scones and cakes at the Dingle Hill Tearooms in Dunwich and fish & chips al fresco on the harbour at the Sole Bay Fish Company, just the other side of the ferry.

Days out included the stunning Framlingham Castle with a fine museum, the Anglo- Saxon barrows at Sutton Hoo and the fascinating tidal windmill at Woodbridge.

Many thanks to Trish & Heather for looking after the booking & housekeeping so well. It’s a pleasure to deal with such efficient & friendly people

“Relaxed Thoroughly.”

I came with my partner, my 4 year old son, and my elderly father and his partner.  We have had the most wonderful week here. The house is comfortable and a pleasure to stay in, we have all slept well, relaxed thoroughly and enjoyed the garden.

The beach, the crabbing, the ferry to Southwold, the walk to the village shop, tea and cakes @ the tea rooms, lunch @ the Anchor, lobster and chips @ Sole Bay Fish Company just across the river, flying kites, Southwold pier and boating lake, Camel Oasis, surrounding villages, it has all been a joy.. and a big thank you to Trish Gower, managing agent, for her excellent suggestions and general communication.  We plan to be back next year..

“We go home with fond memories.”

Thanks for sharing this wonderful place with us.  We loved crabbing with the kids, rowing at Thorpness on the Meare, the walks to Southwold, the Bell, braaiing in the garden and all the races around the house with the children. We go home with fond memories.

“This is a homely house”

We came back for 2 weeks this year & over that period we hosted my elderly father & partner, friends & another family with young children.  This is a homely house with a warm atmosphere & loverly garden.  It reminds me of my Aunts house in West Cork where I spent my childhood summers.  I am so please to be able to offer my son similar halcyon memories to treasure.  We will be back next year.  Thank you!

“We had a fantastic time...”

We had a fantastic time in lovely surroundings.  The weather was brilliant.  We all enjoyed going in the sea.  We have found a new hobby - crabbing - very addictive.  We had a superb meal at The Bell - well worth a visit.  Thank you for the Welcome Pack.
